Baccarat Regulations

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards which are valued under ten are give a value of their printed number while at the same time ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the 'banker,' the 'player' or for a tie (these aren't actual people; they merely represent the 2 hands to be given out).

2 hands of two cards are then played to the 'banker' as well as 'player'. The value for each hand is the sum of the two cards, but the 1st digit is dumped. For example, a hand of seven ... five gives a value of two (7plus5=12; drop the '1').

A third card might be played depending on the following practices:

- If the bettor or banker has a value of 8 or 9, both bettors stand.

- If the gambler has 5 or lower, he hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If gambler stands, the banker hits of 5 or lesser. If the gambler hits, a chart shall be used to ascertain if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The greater of the 2 scores wins. Successful stakes on the banker payout 19 to 20 (even odds minus a 5 percent commission. Commission is tracked and cleared out when you leave the table so be sure to have cash still before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to 1. Winning bets for tie generally pay out 8 to 1 but on occasion 9 to one. (This is a terrible bet as ties occur lower than one every ten hands. Definitely don't try betting on a tie. Nevertheless odds are radically better - 9 to one versus 8 to one)

Played smartly, baccarat presents fairly decent odds, aside from the tie wager obviously.

Baccarat Tactics

As with all games, Baccarat has some common misunderstandings. One of which is similar to a roulette myth. The past is in no way a predictor of future events. Keeping track of past outcomes on a chart is simply a waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most established and feasibly most successful method is the one-three-2-six scheme. This plan is deployed to accentuate profits and cutting back risk.

Begin by betting one unit. If you win, add one more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, subtract four so you have two on the third gamble. If you win the 3rd bet, add 2 to the 4 on the table for a sum total of 6 on the 4th bet.

If you don't win on the initial wager, you take a loss of one. A win on the first bet followed by loss on the 2nd creates a loss of 2. Wins on the 1st 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you breakeven. Coming out on top on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of 10. In other words you can fail to win the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
